Service Technician

Daufenbach Camera is in need of a Service Technician with a strong attention to detail and focus on quality. Service Technician is responsible for cleaning and servicing cameras, lenses, and motion picture equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Highly technical work, servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of motion picture cameras and lenses

  • Maintain video monitors, tripods, camera heads, and other camera accessories

  • Cleaning and preserving integrity and quality of equipment

  • Manufacturer cables for electronic support equipment

  • Operate and maintain calibration tools and equipment

  • Maintain clean and organized work environment

  • Work and communicate well with management to ensure efficient and effective service department and workflow

  • Interact with customers on the prep floor, in the lens room, and potentially on set regarding technical questions or issues

  • Assist in restocking and maintaining organization of inventory

Qualifications:

  • Excellent understanding of the operation of digital motion picture camera systems including but not limited to ARRI, Red, Sony, Canon & Panasonic.

  • Excellent understanding in the operation and application of HD video accessories such as monitors by TV Logic, Sony, Small HD Panasonic, recorders by Sound Devices and Convergent Design, tripods and fluid heads by O’Connor and Sachtler etc.

  • Good working knowledge and experience in the assessment and minor repair of motion picture lenses including but not limited to Cooke, Angenieux, Zeiss, Canon & others.

  • Excellent mechanical skills relating to the assembly and disassembly of camera equipment as well as troubleshooting skills in diagnosing and solving mechanical problems.

  • Basic understanding of the use and calibration of optical testing instruments such as autocollimator and lens projector.

  • Knowledge and experience in performing minor electrical repairs such as soldering small connectors and making cables.

  • Must have good organizational skills in maintaining files, purchase orders, receipts and emails regarding equipment that is to be/has been repaired as well as keeping spare parts and tools in work areas well organized and stocked.

  • A good working knowledge of Macintosh and PC computer system

  • Must have good working knowledge of Excel, Word and Google products.

  • Good attitude, self -motivated, team player, and responsible.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to see tasks through from beginning to end

  • Undergraduate degree preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting 40-50lbs. of cases and/or equipment.

  • Sitting and standing for long periods of time
